Internet Fraud - Don't be duped by It

Fraud on the internet is on a rise. That's why within the Makerere community, DICTS continues to give cyber security tips to users that are needed everyday. Many have been asked in emails to give their password details and account details say for their bank, they have been told they have won 10m or 100m yet they did nor participate in this. All this social engineering aspects are phisphing scams which are on the rise.

So Don't be duped by Internet Fraud because we all get offers that seem too good to be true. Whether they come by email or appear on web sites, they are often clever schemes designed to dupe the gullible. Don't be tricked by Internet Fraud.

DICTS recommends that you report anything suspicious and that you always keep your computers up to date, make sure the sites your accessing are secure. If there is an email asking for your password, always ask the Network or Systems administrator to verify but DICTS never asks users by email to give their details, or send an email to helpme@dicts.mak.ac.ug
